The next series of videos document Olie Ritter‘s 1974 attempt at breaking Eddy Merckx‘s 1972 Hour Record.
Olie Ritter was a professional cyclist from 1967 – 1977 and was a time-trial specialist. In 1968 he set the hour record with a distance of 48.653 KM. Then in 1972 the great Eddy Merckx broke Ritter’s hour record with a distance of 49.431 KM. In November 1974 Ritter attempted to break Merckx’s record.
